If you follow the menu, you will need to cut out most sources of carbohydrates such as bread, pasta, soda, sugar, ice cream, milk, pizza and even some types of fruits. The only carbs that you are allowed to eat are vegetables and some berries because they have lower carb content than the other fruits.

There are many reasons to consider a ketogenic diet. The most obvious is to promote the aforementioned fat burning properties. Several studies have shown that the diet is effective for many trial participants. Some physicians also recommend a ketogenic diet to treat epilepsy in children.
